Flitwing

Flying through the thick air of the humid swamplands of the southlands, the small aerial cephalopod pesters large lumbering beasts wading in the thick waters. Gently landing on the thick hides the flitwing quickly stabs with an imperceptibly quick surgical thrust, lapping up the blood before the slow beast can shake it loose. During mating season the flitwings can swarm in dangerous groups, dozens quickly pincushioning the same beast at once in a frenzied feeding. Unfortunately for the people living close to the swamps, the flitwings prefer the softer flesh of man and won't hesitate on engulfing a wading fisherman during that frantic season.
